New Art Centre Sculpture Park and Gallery
|The New Art Centre, a sculpture park at Roche Court in the south of England specialising in work from 1950 onwards, is the sole representative of the Estate of Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975). We work closely with the family on a global exhibitions and sales programme and exhibit works of sculpture by Barbara Hepworth including works in polished bronze, marble and wood. |
The art gallery houses a changing exhibition programme of 4 to 5 exhibitions a year. The gallery exhibits works of art in a range of mediums including sculpture, painting, ceramics, photography and letter cutting.
In the Sculpture Park there are over 100 works of sculpture on exhibition from 1950 to the present day, including new works by artists including Antony Gormley, Richard Long, Alison Wilding, Richard Deacon and Gavin Turk, executed in a range of media, including works of outdoor sculpture in bronze, marble, Corten steel, fibreglass resin and stainless steel. All works are for sale. We are also able to commission sculpture suitable for large corporate and public spaces in conjunction with architects.
Madeleine Bessborough founded the New Art Centre in 1957. The original gallery was located in Sloane Street, London and in 1994 it was re-located to Roche Court in Wiltshire, a nineteenth century house in parkland. The New Art Centre exhibits annually at the Basel Art Fair.
The Artists' House, completed at the end of 2001 provides a contemporary domestic space for the display of smaller works of art, as well as a place where artists can stay on occasion whilst working in the park. We have an extensive education programme and welcome schools and groups to book guided talks and tours by our Education Officer.
