Murayama Fine Art
Murayama Fine Art focuses today on introducing Japanese artists to the world at large. Starting with – Nobuho Nagasawa, who has received numerous awards for her innovative Public Art projects, Kunie Sugiura, a photographer; whose unique vocabulary is derived without a camera and Nobuko Watabiki, a painter who expresses mundane yet universal concerns using centuries-old materials in a new manner. Their humanistic and philosophical approaches will no doubt present fresh food for thought to the viewers.
The gallery has worked in the field of fine art since the late seventies. Among other projects, they developed shows for museums, alternative spaces and galleries in Japan and Korea, coordinated print editions such as series by Andy Warhol printed in Japan and set up artist/dancer performance collaborations in Japan and the United States. The first solo show of Louise Bourgeois' work in Japan and Korea held in 1995 was curate by them.
